Graphical Simulation of Power Electronics Circuits

In this paper, modeling and simulation of a three-phase inverter (DC-to-AC converter) is studied by means of graphical tools, SaberSketch and Advanced Continuous Simulation Language / Graphic Modeller (ACSL/GM). First, SaberSketch simulation of the inverter with ideal switches is presented. Then, the simulation is repeated by replacing the ideal switches with built-in BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) and power diode components. Later, modeling and implementation of the inverter using ACSL/GM is introduced. Finally, Improvements on the inverter models in terms of simulation time, accuracy and practical implementations are discussed.
